Sample IEP and Lesson Plans

The following sections contain an example of an IEP for a student with dysgraphia as well as a Language and a Math lesson plan.

Individual Education Plan

The Ontario Ministry of Education (2022) defines an Individual Education Plan (IEP) as a "written plan that describes special education programs, accommodations and services that a school board will provide for a student."

Lesson Plans

Language

An example of a lesson plan for Language Arts is given below. It is focused on having students make movie trailers. A visual medium allows dysgraphic students to express their ideas without difficulty. Filmmaking gives students a chance to express themselves academically and creatively.

The Math lesson plan example below has students create surveys through Google Forms. Writing answers can be a roadblock for dysgraphic students. Data representation through graphs provides an opportunity to compile and reflect on collected data.
